How To Clean a Mousepad

Now that we are all working from home and gaming on our computers more than ever before, its even more important to make sure we know how to properly clean a mousepad. Do you know the last time you cleaned your mousepad? That’s ok. It’s never too late to start. Here are a few tips to clean your mousepad.

Fabric Mousepad

To clean a fabric mousepad you will need dishwashing soap, a sponge, and a clean towel.

  • Start by placing the fabric mousepad in a sink or bathtub and get it slightly wet using warm water.
  • Add a small amount of dishwashing soap and use the sponge to scrub away any stains (be mindful not to scrub away any designs).
  • Repeat on the back side and rinse.
  • Use a towel to soak up excess water and continue to dry off the mousepad.
  • Lay in a well ventilated area keeping it out of direct sunlight to help avoid fading.
Plastic Mousepad

The above steps for a fabric mousepad can be used or a quicker process using disinfecting wipes is an option. You will need a multi-surface cleaning spray, microfiber cloth, and disinfecting wipes.

  • Spray the cleaner onto your mousepad and wipe with a microfiber cloth.
  • With any areas still showing stains use the disinfecting wipes to help scrub it away.
  • Let the mousepad air dry completely.
